Taking Advantage of Friends

My old friend Armstead is a killer carpenter and excellent timberframer. Timberframing is a building method that only uses wooden pegs to connect joints--no nails, screws, bolts anywhere. Just wood on wood. It's really beautiful.

Armstead and Phyllis are probably moving back to Wisconsin in a year or so, so I need to take full advantage of Armstead's skills before he leaves. I'm hoping to get him to build Peter and me some timberframe furniture of his own design for the house. Peter and I would love to get some skinny benches and a hall table for the foyer.

Maybe something like this?

In any case, I'm excited to see if Armstead's up for some projects and, if so, what he'll come up with. He's an incredible designer and craftsman.

We also may try to get him to build a timberframe wood-fired sauna for the backyard. He had some good ideas for a cold pool as well.
